Press Release: CCTI Owners Named Small Business Persons of the Year for Maine by U.S. Small Business Administration

BATH, Maine – (April 8, 2026) –  Custom Composite Technologies (CCTI), the high-performance composite manufacturer helping customers create what they imagine, today announced that its leaders, Maureen, Steve and Nate Hassett have been named Maine’s Small Business Persons of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).

Late last week, ahead of National Small Business Week, which will take place May 3-9, the U.S. SBA announced this year’s Small Business Persons of the Year winners from the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and Guam.

“Steve, Nate and I are so grateful for this recognition and the support we’ve had from the Maine SBDC over the years,” said Maureen Hassett, CFO of Custom Composite Technologies. “We’ve operated CCTI here in Maine for over 25 years and we take pride in being a part of Maine’s manufacturing industry and an active member of our community.”

Each year, the SBA celebrates National Small Business Week by recognizing the achievements  of outstanding small business owners and entrepreneurs across the United States. All 53  winners have been invited to attend ceremonies in Washington, D.C., May 3-4, where they will  be honored with their individual award along with special recognition of the runner-up and  the naming of the 2026 National Small Business Person of the Year.

“The SBA is thrilled to be able to recognize Maureen, Steve, and Nate Hassett of Custom Composites as Maine’s Small Business Persons of the Year, not only for all the incredible things the company is doing with their technology, but for their family’s commitment to the community,” said SBA District Director Diane Sturgeon. “Maine is lucky to have such a strong, family owned, manufacturer showing how through innovation and commitment to quality a small business can thrive and lead from Maine.”

The SBA also will co-host a free, two-day national virtual summit featuring educational business  workshops and networking on May 5-6. Additionally, SBA’s ten regions and 68 field offices will  hold area recognition and educational seminars throughout the week.
