Recently, our team finished a robotic end-of-arm piece, made of carbon fiber to be used as a pick head arm that will hold the paddle tool and be used in a machine built by @ Engineering Automation of Maine.
Using composite materials in robotics applications is particularly useful given its lightweight but highly durable properties. Composites provide exceptional stiffness and strength at a fraction of the weight of metals, allowing robotic arms, frames, and end effectors to move faster, carry higher payloads, and consume less energy.
Also you can see the new 5-axis CNC @ Eastcoat Woodworking at work on this piece in the video below, trimming the part and cutting holes to exact size to the customers prints.
