Wet Layup

Wet Lay Up

  • Wet Lay up, the most basic technique of all composite manufacturing processes, requires the technician to cut material to size and wet out in place.
  • After saturation (brushing), material is rolled out onto part and covered with peel ply. Peel ply is removed afterresin is cired and surface is ready for secondary bonding.

Benefits:

  • Simple, effective and cost efficient.
Limitations:
  • More suitable to low performance products.
  • Resin to fiber ratio not as accurate and predictable.
  • Air voids harder to avoid.
