Project: 98’ Windcrest Deck Superstructure

CCTI custom fabricated the deck superstructure for the 98’ Windcrest which included the forward cabin, pilothouse, and mid and aft cockpits. The three sections were made of fiberglass and foam core that was vacuum infused. They measured 20 x 65-feet collectively. The original laminate schedule was modified mid-construction when it was determined that the main sheet attachment area would require heavier reinforcement to withstand a tension load of up to 100,000 pounds. CCTI responded to the change in direction with a carbon fiber beam, supported by an integrated secondary structure that included two athwart ship beams and heavily reinforced mullions. A custom method of infusion was used to ensure proper wet out of the 7” carbon fiber beam.

Project: 155’ Scheherazade.

CCTI custom built one-off composite parts for the mega-yacht, Scheherazade. Upon completion, it was the largest sailboat built in the United States.

CCTI made templates of the deck and louvers for Scheherazade. The templates were used to construct a mold master at the CCTI facility. From the master, the custom parts were fabricated. The steering cockpit combing was foam core with fiberglass and epoxy resin. The louvers were carbon fiber and epoxy resin with custom cut teak to fit over the slats. Both the flag pole and instrument panels were also carbon fiber and epoxy resin. All parts were built to Bruce King design specifications.

The photo gallery pictures clearly illustrate the parts CCTI built, both during production and after installation on the Scheherazade. They are evidence of the finesse and skilled workmanship that is Custom Composite Technologies, Inc.

In these vessels, the strength and durability of custom composite technology is married with traditional yacht-building craftsmanship for a classic look with lightweight functionality.

"CCTI is a class act and an inventive operation. The parts they built for Scheherazade couldn't have been more expertly constructed." Tim Hodgdon, President of HYI, Inc.
